The Intensity trading system is an intermediate-term trend-following system. Trades may be held for only a few days or for several months, but the average trade is held for about one month (approximately twenty trading days).
Unlike most trend-following systems that have winning percentages below 50% (some of them much less than 50%), Intensity has winning percentages greater than 60% for most markets. As pointed out by professional money manager Larry Hite in Market Wizards, one of the chief advantages that an individual speculator has relative to other market participants such as pit traders is the ability to stand aside and wait for the best opportunities to trade. Intensity is designed in particular to wait for those prime opportunities.
Unlike many trend-following systems, Intensity has done well over the last several years and has been consistently profitable over the entire test period, with more wins than losses in each year from 1984 through 2005. Intensity is currently in the midst of a tremendous draw-up and on a single-contract basis enjoyed its best year ever.
